Lithuania’s Ambitious Offshore Wind-Energy Plan Discussed in NYC

On Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 several Board members of the Baltic American Chamber of Commerce (BACC) met at the Lithuanian Consulate General's New York offices with Daiva Garbaliauskaite, Vice Minister of the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy, and Algis Latakas, Managing Director of Klaipeda Seaport.  Both Lithuanian government representatives were in New York as part of the United Nations General Assembly 2022, and to make contacts regarding Lithuania's preparations to embark on a major investment in, and construction of, an offshore wind power generation facility in the Baltic Sea near Klaipeda.

BACC Board Directors John Kissane, Michael Breen, Elliot Matz, and Viktor Sidabras, BACC members John Kancans and Jim Blottman, BACC representative Inga Klimasauskiene, and asset advisor Michael Israelis, Thomas Hollenhorst, Banking & Finance Partner at Watson Farley & Williams in Hamburg, Germany participated in an animated roundtable discussion with the Lithuanian representatives about making contacts with American firms that have experience designing, building and operating such facilities, and about possible political and locational strategies for accomplishing this major endeavor.  A broad range of topics was covered, and we believe some useful suggestions and contacts were made.
