Facilitating Business Connections Between Lithuania, the Klaipeda FTZ and Companies in the US

Michael Breen, the Baltic American Chamber of Commerce (BACC) member and an Honorary Consul of Lithuania in the US, Florida visiting Lithuania in October 2-9, 2022. Overall, this jampacked trip provided great strides in productivity. On his first day, Michael Breen met with ten companies at ROCKIT who expressed keen interest on doing business in the US. On October 5th, Michael spent the day in Klaipeda and met with the Klaipeda FTZ, Glassbel Baltic, Lavango Engineering LT, the Klaipeda State Seaport Authority, Klaipeda Industrial Development, and the Klaipeda University. The outcome of these meetings was most beneficial in solidifying BACC’s partnership with the FTZ, Port Authority, and University. Future plans include facilitating connections between the FTZ and companies in the US seeking to expand in Central Europe and connections between Port of Klaipeda with ports in the US. Additionally, Michael will be hosting a Port delegation at Miami’s cruise conference in March 2023 and at the Port of Jacksonville to discuss mutually beneficial cooperation. Lastly, Mr. Breen squeezed in key visits to the Trakai island Castle, the City of Kaunas, and boarder areas of Kaliningrad and Belarus. It provided a level of comfort and security that Michael shared one of his hotels with a platoon of US Army soldiers and a special operations group in addition to driving in the midline of the German brigade moving from Klaipeda to Kaunas. It is good to know NATO has your back!
